He might be right, but not in the way that he thinks. A political coalition based on a combining most radical left policies and a SELECT few of radical right-wing policies really might be a ticket to easy victory. (Candidate) Trump is basically the inverse of this and look how far it got him.

Not many "radical "centrists" left??? YOU HAVE THE WHOLE DAMN GOP! By "Democrats" standards, the EXTREME far Right is "moderate" and "Centrist". They are champions of misusing terminology as propaganda. More wars, private prisons, tax breaks for billionaires, planet killing ecocide for short term profits, privatized for profit health care….those are ALL Far, far Right wing policy positions, but they call it "centrist" in an effort to make extreme corporate conservatism seem somehow reasonable. We're not falling for it!

In our political discourse, "Opportunity" seems to have become code for radical, every-man-for-himself corporatism.

"You can choose between far right or extreme centrism"

Because it's been working so well for them? Afterall, they managed to lose the federal government, governorships and state houses with that program.

Was New Orleans a better place under Mitch's watch?  Not in my opinion.  Police, in particular, underfunded with promotions to those who played his game.  Funding for post-Katrina pump maintenance diverted resulting in serious avoidable flooding.  I remain of two minds about removing the historic statues.  It's like denying history.  More of an autocrat than a leader is how I'd characterize his style.  Not what I'd want in a President.

  10. Radical Milquetoast…..If the dems do that shit Der Drumpf will win again for sure…sad but true

when was the last time you heard a republican brag about working with dems and meeting them in the middle or anything close to that? the republicans laugh at pricks like this because they know they own them in a round about way.

i'd love to see democrats 'resist' their way out of a paper bag but i know they'd all starve in there.

  15. ewa wyso 2 months ago

Mike – they do get it. They just don't want to (ever)change, 'cuz this would mean the end of 'the gravy train'.
Mitch (I'm hearing: bitch) w/sheepish smile says all the platitudes, hoping it will work for the (stupid) masses once again. It has worked before, and that's all Dems have anyway.

Every time a politician defends lackluster centrism as "Common Sense", I think of the anal-retentive judge Ollie Oliphant from "Rumpole of the Bailey" — "Now let's just use our Common Sense, shall we, Mr. Rumpole?"

All Democrats have to do is stop bashing Trump, and talk about the issues. That's it, just talk about the issues and present a plan.

Check out what the Republicans USED to be — it is a lie that it is the Dems who have moved left.

As a native to New Orleans let me say this… what a dumb ass. He is the epitome of milk toast. He did absolutely nothing here in New Orleans. He and his whole family are mediocre politicians at best
